Suspension Geometry - Iterative ComputationsThe WinGeo3 program can perform interative suspension
computations
over a range of vehicle positions. Here
the two suspensions are compared over a range of ride height from –2 inches
(bump) to +2 inches (droop) with a calculation every 0.1-inch.
The Graphical Analysis Package (GAP) display shown below compares Camber,
Scrub, RC height and RC-CG moment arm over this range of motion.
This display shows that camber and scrub are similar until the vehicle
gets near the far end of the range of motion.
But the moment arm values are quite different with the second suspension
having a nearly constant moment arm. This shows how a change in the length of
the Upper A-Arm can produce roll center control.
The GAP software used in this application is also used in the Debrief3 data acquisition program. The display capabilities are similar to those of any data acquisition program.
